FFXIV Housing Designer

Hi! I'm Aranaia Hayes and I make housing designs in FFXIV. I play on the Crystal data center, over on Coeurl. I enjoy RPing in my spare time; come visit me and my fellow Librarians at The Whisperwind Archives over at Coeurl, Goblet ward 17 plot 57!My design style tends to lean toward traditional / farmhouse / rustic. Themed designs are also a lot of fun! I love to design spaces for RP purposes. I also enjoy playing with vertical spaces, utilizing natural lighting where appropriate, and creating spaces that feel cozy and lived in. I try to incorporate a lot of detail without making spaces feel too cramped or cluttered. If you'd like to commission me for a design, please feel free to reach out to me on Discord at penciltea or in-game! I accept commissions across all data centers.

Apartment Designs

Please note that I cannot design apartments or FC houses for clients, as shared estate access is not available for this house size. Any designs here are purely for inspiration and sharing!

Attic Test Kitchen

The Crystal Den (Medium, Primal - Ultros - Emp w13, plot 38)

This was my first commission! A friend of mine asked me to design his FC house and gave me free reign of the design. I was super inspired by the Crystarium and Allagan design aesthetics. The first and second floors are Crystarium-inspired casual lounge spaces. The basement is an Allagan-inspired gambler's den/bar space. It was a lot of fun to make!

Attic Test Kitchen (FC Room - Crystal - Coeurl - Ward 17, plot 57)

This is my current FC room design! I was super inspired by an attic house tour video by Ellienet on YouTube. My WoL is a culinarian and a writer of recipe books, so I wanted to give her a cozy place to be able to test recipes and write books!

The Whisperwind Archives (Small - Design no longer in-game)

This was my FC's small house! The Librarians are a bit-of-everything FC with RP sessions that occur in the house. Comfy chairs, a cafe, and lots of books were a must!

Stargazer's Archives (Small - Chaos - Moogle- Ward 30, plot 28)

The client wanted their WoL to have a place where they had a lot of books and it felt like they were in the middle of research projects. One of their inspo pictures had a telescope so we blended stargazing and books to create a scholar's organized-chaos paradise!

Masaki Manor (Large - Chaos - Louisoix - Emp Ward 10, Plot 12)

The client wanted their WoL to have a place where they had a lot of books and it felt like they were in the middle of research projects. One of their inspo pictures had a telescope so we blended stargazing and books to create a scholar's organized-chaos paradise!

Highland Manor (Medium- Light - Shiva - Emp Ward 27, Plot 51)

The client wanted a formal Fortemps/Ishgardian-inspired house with a living room, dining room, child's room, primary suite, and a ballroom space in the basement. They wanted to make use of a lot of plants and have plenty of places for screenshots and gposing!

Dark & Moody Stargazer (Small - Chaos - Ragnarok - Shiro W23 P12)

The client wanted a house with dark and moody, cozy vibes, with a stargazer's balcony and a basement living room/bedroom space with a tasteful appreciation for Admiral Merlwyb. I made the living room space slightly more Limsa/Storm inspired to help tie in the portrait.

Fortemps-Asian Fusion (Small - Aether - Cactuar - Shiro W18 P2)

The client wanted a House Fortemps inspired design fused with Asian elements and a loft on the main floor. It was a little tricky to balance the two themes!

Wyrm's Rest (Small - Aether - Cactuar - Emp W20 P27)

The client wanted a dark and moody, medieval-modern Ishgardian house with a showcase for their Dragoon weapons. It was my first time designing a weapons display, it was a fun challenge!

Baron Nightclub (Small - Design no longer in-game)

This was my first modern nightclub build! The client wanted something dark, moody, with black and blue for the main colors. I was inspired by a lot of the builds that Sally Snow has done. It was definitely a challenge but super fun!

Osborne Oasis (Small - Aether - Gilgamesh - LB W27 P43)

The client wanted a peaceful place to come back to after a long day, to relax and unwind. They wanted a studio apartment upstairs and a hangout space downstairs with a pool table and a motorcycle. I had a fun time reverse engineering designs for the pool table and motorcycle!

Moonflower (Small - Chaos - Spriggan - Shiro W18 P17)

The client wanted a cozy and comfy, traditional-Japanese-inspired house with greenery and the gorgeous Lakeland trees in the yard. I wanted to have a water/garden feature in the basement space that went between both the bedroom and bathroom but also allowed each room to have its own unique views. I also used some carbuncle lanterns to sort of give firefly vibes.

Dianthus (Small - Light - Raiden- LB W15 P40)

Named for a flower that can come in black-pink-white varieties, the client wanted a modern house with a mainly black and white color palette. They wanted a primary suite downstairs and a secondary bedroom with pink and black as the main color palette with a tasteful portrait placement. I'm still getting modern builds under my belt but it was a lot of fun!

Gold & Ivory (Medium - Dynamis - Maduin - Goblet W18 P34)

The client wanted a design that used all floors with plenty of greenery, fish tanks, and books! We ultimately landed on a desert oasis sort of vibe. The main floor and upper floor both have "outdoor balconies" with a sunset-ish design, with a primary suite on the upper floor. The basement features an extensive library with two large fish thanks. It was my first time with an oasis inspired design. I wanted to keep things light and airy feeling and used some of the Hannish bookshelf partitions for frames across the main and upper floor to keep a consistent design.

Modern Garlean (Medium - Chaos- Omega- Emp W22 P17)

My client wanted a build that was Garlean inspired, without the use of the magitek/Allagan items. I did some design inspo/research and aimed for a modern, brutalism-ish design. The client wanted a living room/kitchen space on the main floor, two bedrooms and a study/office on the upper floor, and a bathroom/spa space with a sauna in the basement. I'm still working on getting more skilled with modern designs, and I'm not sure that the brutalism inspo came through that well, but I had fun on the build nonetheless!

Apothecafe (Small - Crystal - Coeurl - Goblet W17 P37)

The client wanted an apothecary-bar RP space with Ishgardian vibes. We used the upper floor and outside for the bar seating and the downstairs for a workshop/study space with a tiny hidden bedroom behind the shelves. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out how to make a workshop and research space flow nicely without pushing all of the big furniture pieces against the wall!

Organization XIII (Medium- Primal- Famfrit- Goblet W14 P19)

This was one of my more interesting and exciting designs! The client was a FC inspired by Organization XIII from Kingdom Hearts, and wanted a house design to reflect that. Most of the Org13 spaces in the games are admittedly on the plain side, with a lot of white/light purple/silver tones and not a ton of details, so it was a challenge to not make everything feel sort of sterile! Instead, I opted to reference spaces where various members of the group have been in the course of the games. The exterior and the main floor used the Old Mansion as their inspiration, but with more of a "currently lived in" vibe. I wanted something that felt like a manor while still feeling somewhat cozy and comfortable to sit in.The upper floor is inspired by the classroom from Scala Ad Caelum in KH3. I absolutely had to include the window with the chess set somewhere! Since the game doesn't have a chess set furniture piece, I used a Triple Triad board instead. I also opted to make this less of a classroom feel and more of a general research/library/study space. The basement is probably going to be my most controversial part of the build! I absolutely had to include the circular meeting room with the tall chairs of various heights, but uh, the room is exceptionally undetailed in the game cutscenes! I took some creative liberties and brought in some blues and metallics to help keep things from being Just White, and added pillars and curtains for some extra texture and details. I tried using a variety of pieces to get the right shape for the chairs but I really had a hard time finding something that worked. Either the chair shape was right or the color was right, but sadly I couldn't find chairs that were absolutely perfect. I ended up using Lakeland chairs because they had arm rests and dyed white nicely.

Modern & Moody Studio (Small - Elemental - Tonberry - Emp W28 P59)

This was my first one-floor build! My client wanted a moody, modern house, with a rainy, slightly romantic nighttime vibe, perfect for curling up on couch. It was a learning curve for me to get the windows working as I wanted, but overall I had a fun time with this build!
